Blown Away is a Canadian Netflix ground-breaking reality competition series, where exceptional glassblowers are invited into the largest hot shop in North America to push themselves to creative extremes.
A group of artisans from across North America compete in a glass-blowing competition for a residency at the Corning Museum of Glass.
In each episode the glassblowers must impress a panel of art experts or risk being eliminated. At stake, a big cash prize and a life-changing career offer.
Hosted by Nick Uhas, with resident evaluator and glass master Katherine Gray. Blown Away was created and produced by marblemedia in association with Blue Ant Media and Netflix.
Smart Glass Technologies was chosen to contribute to the first season, that was filmed in a “custom-built to accommodate 10 glass blowers working simultaneously” facility.
The project consisted of a large 4 panel sliding door of smart privacy glass, that slides to opposite directions. The installation and the wiring were done by the Smart Glass Technologies certified installers and took a couple of days. Altogether the project came up to 160 SF.
Only 1 power transformer was used, to make it possible to change the On/Off modes of the glass.
